Tampa Bay Lightning forward Steven Stamkos says he was not concerned about the injury to defenseman Andrej Sekera.
Sekera left Monday’s game against the Los Angeles Kings with an apparent lower-body injury and will miss his second straight game.
He skated on his own Tuesday in the morning skate, but did not return to the game.
Stamkos said he did not see Sekera after practice Tuesday.
“I didn’t see him.
I didn’t even get to see him until after practice,” Stamkos told NHL.com.
“I’m just trying to figure out what happened.”
Stamkos said Sekera was hurt when he was trying to hit a puck during a faceoff in the third period.
“When you play on your knees, you’re not as much of a threat to the opposition,” Stamko said.
“When you’re on your feet, that’s when you have a chance to be a threat.
That’s when I got hit.”
The Lightning have not won a game since Feb. 2.
